Hi All,

I'm looking at a '95 LC pretty much loaded and has the front and rear lockers. It has about 118K miles and seems to be in good condition, with some recent service (new tirers, bakes all around). Only has documentation for the last 4.5 years though. Is $12K on the high side? Should I be worried about the mileage not exactly knowing the history? This is in California if it matters.

Thanks!

Only people familar with your local market can reasonably comment......

I paid what seem to think a bit much....94 Locked in absolutely PERFECT condition.....No stains, a few very minor surface scratches, owned by elderly couple since new, ultra clean everywhere...All service records from Toy dealer since new, Original Michelins, (that I replaced immediately)....$11.9K.....all it needed was a $30 antenna from C-dan.

As stated above, local markets vary wildly, check with some fellow Cruiserheads in your area. That said, I dont think it sounds too high for a clean rig. Personally, I subscribe to the idea that if you are happy with it, its in good shape and within a reasonable range, go for it! Really, whats $1000 one way or the other in the end? The mileage is very acceptable, there are some on this board with double that and they are still running strong. Read the FAQ and get things checked out by another Cruiserhead or bring it to a trusted mechanic with a print-out of the IH8MUD "buyers guide"

for a 95 swith 125,000 and good condition I paid 10.5.

I purchased my 95 circa 2004 from the original owner in FL and came with FF/RR locks, all maintenance conducted/records, and 92K miles on odom for $10,500.

I looked for quite a while to find it, scouring the web from Ebay to local newspaper classifieds across the country.

Best of luck.

Depends on the part of CA you're in. That's maybe a few hundred to a thousand high from a smokin' deal, but it's not too bad if it's in great condition.

At 118k miles you don't have much to worry about, but it's due for its 120k servicing -- if you have the dealership work on it, you can plan on paying around $700 to $800 for the job. This would not include a birfield repack, which is really should be done at 120k miles (IMO).

Just paid $13,500.00 for my 97 LX. Very clean with 108,000 on it. Other side of the country I know, but more info. is better.

If in Socal, seems a little high as Doug has stated, but if super clean, etc. and makes you happy..........

You know, I really don't like get these posts. Why ask if it's a good deal? Is it the first one you're looking at? If you want one local, look around and you'll instantly find out what is a good deal / bad deal in your area. Otherwise you're going to get info based on the location of the poster. Even if you look on ebay you'll find out quickly what a good deal is versus a bad deal.

Sorry dude, know it's like your first post and all, but who better to define what the current market is than a current buyer?

You know maybe we should have a running thread on this topic. We can then track prices over time and in different areas. I might also be helpful for new buyers to read what's been posted before. Sort of like a FAQ.

Problem is that new posters wouldn't know to post to that thread.

Just a thought.

back on topic - as others have said, I wouldn't worry about $1000 dollars one way or the other. You'll spend that on parts and mods pretty quick.

Just to give you something to compare to mine is a 96, perfect condition, lockers, leather, 75k miles when i bought it and paid 13 grand. I think yours should go down about a grand but do some research and good luck. You will love the 80 series.

I'm about to pay $14,500 for a 97 LX450, 92k miles, green, locked. It may be a little high but I feel like it's a pretty good deal. It's real clean inside. Drivers seat is a little worn, probably in above average shape. There's a ding on the tail gate.

I've seen a few around here and I think I'll be happy. :D

I don't even want to mention what I paid for mine, but I am happy with my purchase (single owner, woman driver 96' LC with 77k in Moonglow/Grey Interior). I agree that prices damatically differ depending on your location. LC's are very popular in the northwest and very pricey no matter what the mileage. For instance the Autotrader right now has a 96'(or 97') for sale with 123k for $17k, another is a 96'(or 97') with 87k for 18.5k.

My recommendation: do your research, go with your gut, and don't look back.

Best of luck,

Russell

Just a tip for people providing what they paid for their rigs - the information is only usable if you also mention WHEN you bought it. ie - $19,200 for a 94 with lockers sounds ridiculously high unless you bought it in 97....which makes it a rippin' deal. Even one bought a year ago would be dramatically different now. The prices are obviously going down, especially with gas prices, so the date of purchase is highly relevant.

I want to quote, I want to do several things that could be misconstrued. Will back away from the keyboard now. Junk, ditto.(i.e. you are correct sir.)

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I should have been a little clearer

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback. I should have ordered my Q's. I am more worried about the Cruiser having 118K and having service records only for the last 4.5 years. My gut is to go for it, but I wasn't sure if I would be asking for trouble a short while down the road... Oh yah - this is in the Bay Area California. Thanks again.

Anything serious on those service records?

New hampshire is a long way from CA. And in my experience, the definition of "rust free" on the east coast is extremely different than the definition of rust free on the west coast.

Joe - I bought my LX 450 w/ 117K miles locked from a guy in Lafeyette for 14K in November I think. I have since replaced the tires, got the 120K mile service- everthing else is working flawlessly. It could use a little buffing around the door handles and a good detail inside but thats it. I'm very happy with the purchase.

EDIT: It now has 125K miles on it.

Got My 95 With Service Records From Day One W/ 72k On It. Locked And Loaded. Needed Compound And Wax And A Interior Detail. I Replaced A The Front Bumber Because It Had Slight Dents On It And Repained The Rear Bumber. Paid 12,500 For It And I Think He Let It Go Too Cheap.
