So yesterday evening at 7pm I started up my cruiser to shake off the cold that we can't get away from up here in the north east. I then proceeded to forget it was running until just now at 3pm. My truck was running for 19 hours straight after adjusting for day light saving...good thing I had a full tank.

How long have you run your engine for non stop?

Idling...2 hours or so. Driving...12 hours, even left it running when fueling up (I know, dangerous...had a bad starter). You'll be fine.

My first trip back from Glacier back to Los Angeles. Just a touch under 21hrs straight. Even during fill ups I would keep the truck running because I wanted to see how long I could keep it going.

I never drank so many Starbucks lattes and Rockstar energy drinks in my life.

During a full day of slow wheeling, stop-go I rarely turn mine off for the day. So maybe 8-10hrs.

I had my '06 tacoma running for 46 hours, I drove home from Lloydminster Alberta in Dec, and slept in the truck at -20 so I left it idling with the heat on. That's the longest but I've done other long runs like that the other times I drove there.
I also ran 27 hours straight to Islamorada FL towing a 19 ft bowrider, only stopping for fuel.

My son and I took a trip to Alaska (from Iowa). We slept in the truck. I didn't shut it off for 6 days. It was horribly cold -30 and I was afraid I'd never get it started. We cut our trip short and it was stupid cold but we still talk about that trip a few times every week.

Begs the question, how long coukd truck idle with a full tank of gas?

I burned through about 2/3 tank in 19 hours...so I would say about 30 hours.

I get 0 mpg for some reason?

my truck has run a bazillion times for about 10 hrs a pop in the shop at work to provide music to calm discruntled employees. It left little/no impression on the fuel gage surprisingly

wow, I thought mine running 4 hours under water up to the fenders was long. Some you guys got me beat! lol

If I remember correctly I went through around 550 gallons over the course of two weeks. Approximately 3500 miles.

Man i Thought my 4 hrs was gonna stand a chance.

I know this one guy (you know him too :D) that leaves his running all night long on wheeling trips. Here we are tying to wake him making sure no CO had gotten him. Lol

I once did the same thing with my FZJ80, tank also ~2/3 full, started it one evening to go out, got a phone call, forgot about it, watched TV, went to bed. It idled in the driveway for ~18 hours until it ran out of gas. Luckily there was enough gas left in the system that it started the next afternoon and I was able to drive 1/4 mile to the gas station down the street.

Odd. I've never in my life forgot I had the engine running. It's like forgetting you have a sleeping baby in the back seat. :meh:

I thought leaving mine running for 45 minutes after I had forgotten was bad. Around here the cops will ticket you for leaving your vehicle running, and also if you forget to lock your doors.
:slap:

My Torque app says I burn between .5-.6 gallons per hour at idle. .8 with AC on.

Side question if I may; do you guys leave the truck running during wheeling trips? I usually shut it off for 'get-out-and-BS/enjoy-the- scenery' stops.

If we are going to be stopped for a while for lunch or spotting people through tough sections of trail that will take a while, I will usually shut the truck off. If its just a quick stop to watch someone get through an obstacle I will leave it running.
