I have the 850/863 heavy duty springs and shocks. I was wondering b/c i got the suspension about 40 K miles ago. i dont have any of those heavy bumpers or tire on the back. all i have is a manik brush guard on the front . But the suspension gets alot of abuse from the staten island n.y horrible roads, and other nyc pot holed roads. It seems as the rear came down alittle.

So i was just wondering if any one knows the lifespan of these wonderdful suspensions.

Some settlement over time is normal for all suspension systems. Since you are not heavily loaded all the time, your springs should last a good long time. I do not know the life-span of OME shocks. Christo? Opinions?

Yaa. Good question. Mine has about 80K on it and still sits just fine but I have been wondering.

I have had a few sets of shocks come back bad over the past few years... mostly on older rigs, with tons of miles on the suspension setup, the owners were more than happy to buy another set of OME shocks and have them last another 5-6 years. To date, the only 80 series shock I had to warranty was a Steering stabilizer... just leaked a bit out of the seal. One of the first OME setups we ever installed (~8 years ago)... is still cruisin the streets today... I wanna buy it from the owner one day :D

I have never had to warrantee them. However on the ShortBus, I trashed a pair of 860's in the rear in a single wheeling season. This was probably due to overcomrpressing the springs repeatedly.

Occasionally you will get a shock that starts leaking. As for springs, they will settle, and I am pretty sure when you wheel the truck hard, that will happen sooner. As to how soon, not sure. I think with the rock crawling that we do, we are using the suspension outside of what it was initially designed for and premature sagging might occur. It is not a good thing to compress the springs until the coils touch repeatedly. That will happen on any 80 when you really wheel them hard. In Oz the suspensions are mostly made for expedition type wheeling with lots of miles driven on bad roads, but not short run max flex situations.

Anyway, even if that happens, they are cheap to replace. Standard warrantee is 2 years, 24k miles if I recall correctly.

Really close... 24months / 25000 miles

:D
