For the techstream techies...how is the abs activated? I went to the abs ecu but so many options... Which one is it?

I don't know what year or specific model you have but for the US-spec 2013 these are the full instructions. Instructions are in section 2 starting with step m. Note that for normal bleeding of fluid (i.e. fluid exchange or a brake job) you only need to do section 1. Section 2 is for when you've replaced the MC or ABS sensors.

Thanks but my issue is the brake pedal still seems spongy after the bleeding process. The reservoir ran out of fluid so I'm thinking the abs needs to be activated to remove air that could have gotten trapped there...

Oooooo, crap.

So I got my certifications when older systems existed, but...

If you suck air into your master cylinder, the only way to properly return the brake system to factory safe standards is to remove the MC from the vehicle and bench bleed it.

Maybe the newer systems don’t need you to remove the MC, but yeah, for everyone else. Don’t let fluid run out in the master cylinder!

Exactly! I think the best it to activate abs pump via techstream... This is the procedure I hope we can get

Taco2 I will give your procedure another try. Maybe I just did it the wrong way... Again thanks for sharing this procedure ....

Whoa there buddy! I didn't really give a procedure.

I just said that on the older brake systems I studied on, if you suck air into the Master Cylinder because you let it run dry, then you need to bench bleed it.

Are you trained enough to remove the master cylinder from the brake booster? It's not something to try if you're not formerly trained. We're talking serious failures if you mess this up.

Is there a way to bleed the master through the lines coming out of it. I remember I accidentally dried up an MC and nothing worked in the bleeding process until I removed the air from the master through the lines directly connected to the mc

The section 2 instructions on bleeding the entire system using Techstream are supposed to be used when replacing the MC. That section is linked to from the Installation portion of the Hydraulic Brake Booster section (which includes MC replacement) in TIS. You shouldn't need to bench bleed.

Unless these MCs already come ench bleed?

Like when you buy a new Toyota transmission, it comes with ATF all up in it.

I don’t know what the answer is, but I don’t just trust that a Toyota replacements part is the same as one that was messed with.

So I am very curious what the outcome will be.
