Hi all.

Been a while since I posted here (or anywhere else for that matter...). The Check engine light came on so I had the codes pulled out at my local shop. Code 21. Seems like it's one of the two O2 sensors. Of course, don't know which one is faulty so replaced the one that looked in pretty rough shape. Unplugged the battery but still get the CEL. Is there a specific procedure to reset the codes besides just unplugging the battery? Or was I simply Out Of Luck and replaced the wrong sensor??

Thanks for the help.

copy paste from fsm:

After repair of the trouble area, the diagnostic code retained
in memory by the ECU must be cancelled out by
removing the EFI fuse (15A) for 30 seconds or more,
depending on ambient temperature (the lower the temperature,
the longer the fuse must be left out) with the
ignition switch OFF.

fuse is located in the fuse box by the steering wheel

disconnecting the battery should do it too.

Thx for the quick come back Sev65.

Well, it looks like, out of the two sensors, we picked the wrong one as I both unplugged the battery AND pulled the EFI fuse simultaneously with no success... Left the fuse out for a few minutes (15) as it's below freezing out here (already??). So unless someone has another idea, i guess I will be looking for another O2 sensor...

Thx much, great help from this great bunch, as always!

I know what you're thinking. Try switching the new one for the second sensor. Well, I can't be positive they are the same. The parts shop where I got the new one lists only one part number, like there was only one sensor. Plus, physically, they do look alike. Trouble is, the one we pulled out is in pretty pretty rough shape. Not sure I could put it back in and get it to work OK...

Yeah, if I was going to keep the car, I wouldn't even hesitate and change the other one. Trouble is, it's pretty much sold as I have a solid deposit on it... I suppose I could lower my price by a couple hundreds and see if the would be buyer would want to take care of it himself...

Sure was great timing on that light coming "ON", wasn't it?

Thx.
