So I just picked up an 03 LX470 that is SUPER clean. MY wife decides it would be a good day to smash it into a parked car. She turned to discipline one of our 3 kids and apparently swerved into the shoulder and a parked car. The cladding on the passenger side and rear bumper seem to have take all the damage. I don't see any sheet metal damage. It was more of a LONG scrape with some serious paint removal then an impact.I already plan to install an offroad rear bumper/tire swing set up so apparently that will happen sooner than later. I will be getting a quote from the insurance company in the next couple days. I would like to just remove the cladding and do the repair myself. Hopefully it is removeable and I can just find some junk yard replacement panels. In the 80 world everyone who wheels an LX removes the cladding but I have never seen that mentioned in the 100 section, so maybe it isn't as simple or aethically pleasing. Any input/personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Give her some credit for the discount on the new bumper. :D

In your case it seems that the cladding is pretty jacked up anyway. So, it should be pretty easy, tear it off, buy new including the clips and tape, clean the sheet metal and stick the new ones on.

I don't find the cladding on my 100 LX nearly as obnoxious as my 80 LX.

Damn, I don't own a single Landcruiser. FML.

I'm not looking to permanitely remove the cladding. I just want to replace it. The LX450 cladding looks like it's bolted on and doesn't fit the body lines. The LX470 cladding is incorporated into the sheet metal and would probably look weird being removed. I just want to know how to get it off so I can replace it with new pieces. Special tool? Any precautions I should be aware of?

Note the spots of primer where there are holes in the sheet metal. The cladding attaches with spring clips. Pull gently, no special tools.

Are the spring clips reusable or should I pick up some new ones at the dealer before I do this?

Definitely pick some up. You'll have some break, some separate and fall into the door, and some that are probably broken already. You'll have to ask a parts guy here like Beno, but maybe new cladding comes with them. Order some tape for the edges too unless that comes with the cladding. And one of these will make then prep much easier:

Pretty sure Loud also decided to rip his cladding off, he bedlined just the lower portion.
Wonder if he would be interested in selling his cladding to me?

It's been a while @1loudLX took his off way before me. I trashed mine bc I was not careful at all removing it and it was pretty wrecked,

FYI - looks like Loud hasn't been on the forum in over 4 mos.

I know the cladding panels are pretty spendy new. Check ebay...I saw one of the side panels on there for a good price.

I am going to be taking mine off and replacing with LineX. They are in great shape...off a 2001 LX. I also have two rear bumpers if you need to replace the one on your rig. I have been sitting on the bumpers...was just about ready to cut them up and dispose of them.

I could definitely use the cladding and rear bumper. The issue is that your up in Oregon. I do a trip every other year to Sisters, OR to visit family. Unfortunately I went last year and wont be going again until until summer of 2016. do you know if all the cladding is the metallic gray color like on the LX450 or is there different colors of cladding? I have the silver paint with gray metallic cladding combo.
