I have taken out all the lug nuts but the wheel is not coming off. Is there anything else I'm missing? What are my options on taking the wheel off? I need to change the rotor and brake pads.

Thanks!

be careful to not hit the wheel with your BFH, only the rubber of the tire. I’ve never had this issue on the 200, probably because I’m always taking off a tire to do something else on it. My daily TACO though chronically has a stuck tire and it’s a PITA.

Here’s a vid that shows various methods of attack. I’ve never tried slowly driving with loosened lug nuts. Not sure I’d do that one.

Loosen the lug nuts so it doesn't go flying, raise it off the ground, and hit it with the tread of another tire / wheel. Alternate hitting it front and back to work it loose. I've stopped to help several people on the side of the road with that trick it has always worked. Space saver spares seem to be the perfect weight.

Stand facing away from the wheel and give it a good kick with the heel of one shoe. Alternative is to lower the jack - SLOWLY - and put a SLIGHT load on the wheel, then give it another kick.

Personally I’m not a fan of putting weight on that corner with lugs loose at all because it can put a bending force on them when the wheel face finally does crack loose from the hub.

I had issues with this on a Tacoma…kick it hard.

Many thanks for the tips/suggestions. While searching for some solutions I came across this guy's YouTube video. I'm leaving it here in case it might help others and I can come back when I have this issues again. It helped me.

If you live where it gets salty, a light coating of anti seize around the center hub will stop this issue in the future.
+1 for the BFH, I like a 5lb sledge. Just hit the tire at the bottom with an easy swing and it should pop right off. As said above, DON'T hit the rim.

Thanks! I did try the sledge hammer but I was too afraid it may cause the wheel to be out of balance. And yes, I did apply some anti seize. Hopefully if I have to take it out I won't have this issue again.

Anti-seize or anything applied to the mating surfaces, be sure you check the lug torques again after a short drive. You should always do that anyway, but especially important if you grease.

That is why I use the spare tire to whack the stuck wheel. You can hit the rim over and over with the rubber on the spare. And you will have it handy on the side of the road or trail.

This is what @Markuson put me on to and it works great. The problem is the corrosion that occurs in the circle where the wheel mates to the hub.

Clean that up and treat it with a light coating of this and it will not stick next time, even in salty areas. Don’t get any on the lug threads, it will mess up torque value.

Thanks, @Sandroad. I did apply the anti-seize to the wheel. I guess the two previous owners did not.
