Hi All,
Yesterday, I got this hair-brained idea that it may be fun to "upgrade" vehicles from my trusty 2000 LC to say a 2006 Sequoia. So I went and test drove one. Though a nice vehicle, I quickly discovered that model of the Sequoia doesn't compare to my 100. For the record, we also have an 08 Sequoia, and I freaking love that beast. Great vehicle.

In any case, what that little test drive did was give me the itching to update the interior of the 100. I thought I'd ask you guys what you've done to your LCs to freshen the inside up?

Mine is currently:
1. 2000 w 125k on the clock
2. COMPLETELY STOCK interior, including the non-working CD changer with classic tape deck
3. Leather that is brittle, driver's side has a few tears
4. Factory speakers

I'd love for it to feel just a bit more new, because heck, it drives better than most, much newer vehicles.

Lol...

You answered your questions. Start with 2, 3, and four.

Just depends on your priorities really.
:)

Put a new receiver in and some new mats(I have weathertechs) if you haven't already. Bluetooth audio/calls, navigation, back-up camera etc... I just got a Pioneer NEX 7201 installed. Definitely makes a difference having all the latest tech available.

As for the leather. Mines in great shape but starting to wear slightly on the door side of driver seat from years of folks sliding in and out. Interested what other people do for leather repair. If yours are too far gone there are replacement leather kits available from a couple vendors that are a close but not exact match.

Finally a killer detail is usually well worth the money...

I think Crutchfield could get you a nice new head unit and speakers for $500 and a local upholstery shop could probably redo the seats for a reasonable price. Then you could take it and get it detailed. I think for under $2000 you could have the interior looking great and can put the new truck bug to rest.

Replacing the speaker grill fabric also makes a difference in these vehicles. Inexpensive upgrade. Most are stained at this point and it’s the first thing you see when you open the door to get in.

New leather has been the one and only interior upgrade in my 15 years of ownership- definitely worth it. I guess I'm an outlier on the electronic spectrum, perfectly happy with the average stock sound system, everything works as original. My dash and door panels have never been removed- hoping it stays that way- no squeeks or rattles with 300k on the clock. I am however seriously considering new carpet, but not for a few more years...

My carpet was in good condition in terms of pile and wear, but was majorly faded throughout--almost looked blueish green. New carpet was ~$800 and since I had the interior apart anyway (for cleaning & mods) I reluctantly tried some SEM Color Coat vinyl/carpet paint. I'll grant you that it sounds sketchy, but the results were better than expected. I need to take some better pictures of the final product, but this gives you an idea.

The second picture shows the contrast between the painted carpet and the unpainted floor mat.

The previous owner added some carbon fiber pattern wrap to the trim pieces and an android infotainment setup. I think it really updated the interior look. Personally, I might have gone with a brownish carbon fiber hue to match the leather but it ties in ok as the cluster is black and so are the weather tech floormats.

I know this post is years old, but any chance you know which SEM Color Coat color you used on the gray carpet? I have a couple of stains I'd like to touch up and this looks like a great match!

EDIT: tracked down another one of your old posts, I see this is Medium Gray. Saving this response in case anyone else looks for this info down the road.
