I know this a odd question but was looking at alternative tanks for extended range and want to know how far in depth the existing float reaches from its mounting plate on top of the tank to the bottom the float when fully extended?

How deep is the fuel tank on what?

Most aftermarket long range tanks utilise the standard OEM sender unit. My recommendation for fuel tanks is to get a professionaly built certified tank. There are a heap of aftermarket tank manufacturers here in OZ.

If you need to adjust the sender unit you can lengthen (or shorten) the float arm to get the required calibration.

it is a 90 litre tank, I get about 1000 km's on mine. thats a trip across the sahara, but I live in ontario!

the tank is on a bj-60

This is more a design question but the fuel tank sender from other LC sites look like a float on a long stuff wire attached to a variable resistor. This is good because the wire can be rebent if the tank dimentions are not the same as a stock tank. I was ether going to change the existing tank or add on a second one such as the case for running wvo. The 1/4 inch poly tanks are tough and strong and have thought about buying one of those since thay dont rust and almost puncure resistant.

So my guess is the sender length is 6.5 inches from the bottom of the mounting plate to the buttom of the float when fully extended? Only other way to know if goto dealership and ask if thay have one in stock but really dont think thay do have them.
