Does anyone know how I can tell if my shackles give me enough tire clearance or not?
Here is the situation: When I purchased my newest HJ61 it had about 4.5" shackles up front with 35" tires (not SOA). I was getting real bad steering issues on the drive back and had the front shackles changed to the 3" OME shackles. I still have some steering issues and so I am having shims put in to correct the caster. However, I don't know if I should go back to the larger shackles (4.5") or stay with the 3" OME ones.
I need to know how I can tell if my tires will have enough clearance or not with just the 3" shankles. I know I can obviously just do a bunch of crawling and see what happens, but I'd prefer if someone knew a better way to tell. (Note: I don't do any major rock crawling or anything extreme, I just want to be able to handle aggressive off-road terrain without major tire rub.)
Thanks,
Sean
