I would like to hear/see what you have to say on the largest metric size tire you can fit in the wheel well on a 100 series LC with OME 2.5 lift without scrubbing or cutting? The widest I want to go is a 285/. Narrowest 275/.

This 2003 TLC is equipped with 18 inch wheels. And the stock tire is a 275/65/18. Not that you need to know the stock tire size but that's it anyway.

The sticky thread shows you may be able to fit a 285/75/16 or 285/65/18 with stock suspension.

I would like your input and even picture if you have them. Thanks in advance.

1- if yours is a 91, that is an 80
2- use the search within the 100 sections. there are pages upon pages on this.

You'll likely recieve a more receptive and helpful audience if you search before you post. this topic has been beat to death since 2003. There is so much information on here you will have your answer in a few short clicks and punching some keys.

You can easily fit a 395/75/18 with that lift. Almost everyone here goes with the Super Swamper Bogger because they're great on the road and the trail, and they're especially good on icy roads in the winter!

Do you have a reason to doubt the sticky thread? If not, that's all you need to know. If you doubt the sticky thread, then you should think long and hard about where it came from...

i second that, its a common knowledge lol

at least bogger engineers avoided tread that is super receptive to clinging Sb2 gravel that the BFG AT engineers seem to appreciate. I mean, if you want to see slung gravel, get a 285/75 BFG and put some gravel in your travel just dont have a trailer behond you unless you want to see what it looks like with pings all over it. And people keep buyin em like its the only available tire out there.

Stock size is 275/60/18 if yours has 65's they put on larger then stock tires.

Which is highly doubtful. I'm sure they're 275/60/18 unless he got the single special Cruiser from the lot.

You must take me for a fool... :flipoff2:
I did kinda chuckle after seeing that. chuckled only because it was totally false.

I have done some searching on this topic and because there is so much information it was hard for me to determine what to get. people are running everything from tall skinnys to 35's!

i guess i will stick with 285/65/18

I called the local discount tire to get a deal and can get 5 285/65/18 BFG T/A KO for $1100 mounted. Good deal?

that's not bad IMO especially for 5 tires, only downfall IMO is they are BFG AT's - I'm not a fan of them because everyone and their brother runs them and they are somewhat dangerous is you drive lots of rain/ice in a light truck in 2wd. Not sure on the Hundy since it's full-time 4wd, so probably won't send you hydroplaning as easily. They do last freaking forever though and have decent sidewall strength, so why not?

I'm running 285/75 R18 Toyo A/T II's on a 2004 with front and rear arb's and a 2.5 OME. that's as big as you want to go with no additional mods and I'm only driving on pavement. You'll get a slight rub on plastic protection piece over the pinch weld. Cut the plastic and no rub.

The reason why you received some of the responses you did was because this question comes up so often with new folks to the forum. You could spend all day looking through all the threads with this exact question. Your answer isn't just "how big" but more the "why and what". Why do you want a bigger tire? What are you trying to accomplish? Just a big tire for looks? Better traction? Tall and skinny is sometimes better than fat and wide. Remember, some manufactures "35" will be slightly different than others. Also realize that going to a 35 isn't just having Discount Tire mount them up, there are other things to consider to avoid rubbing/binding/cutting. A 33" is probably your best bet but will come with some downsides as well. Lower MPG, noisier and harsher ride than what you currently have, added weight and so on.

A 275/70/18 (33") will fit fine on a 2.5" lifted 100. 285/65/18 is another popular one. You have a ton of options in the 275/70 tire size. BFG AT, Nitto Terra/Trail, Toyo MT and so on. A little searching of that tire size will net you plenty of photos as well. Hope that helps.

Fwiw the FAQ section is very lacking in this department and finding the right info by digging through old threads is a bit difficult.

took about 3 seconds for all the info you could read. Do you know you can search within each section, or even within a thread. I am not being sarcastic. I did not know this FOREVER when I joined, and whenever I would search it would be from the main forums page.

Stop being lazy and do your research. You will not always be spoon-fed information for the life of your cruiser ownership.

Firstly, I am not the person who started the thread, I was merely pointing out that the information is perhaps a bit more difficult for a new member to find than it should be.

Secondly, if you re-read the OPs first message, I wouldn't exactly call that asking to be spoon fed information. He had done some research, and had a question to his specific situation with his 2003.

The first place new members will look is in the FAQ, right? That's what you want them to do to avoid redundant threads. Here's the ONLY thread listed in the FAQ that has to do with tire size:

Which incidentally you were nice enough to post a helpful response in just a day or two ago!

Yukon - thanks for the info and for being civil about it! When I click that link it doesn't work. It that a problem on my end? It says "SORRY NO MATCHES TRY DIFFERENT SEARCH TERMS"

I do know about the advanced search option, but others may not so it's nice to point out. Also keep in mind that those of us who primarily use tapatalk b/c we are browsing at work (and our employers don't see the Mud forums as a good use of company time!) have a very limited search ability. The tapatalk search sucks!
