how big is my BJ42's fuel tank?

Well, I took it as low as I dared, which was about one needle's width above the line to E... It took 18.75g to fill up, or 626km... do we supposed there could be 3 gallons hiding in there still???

I've chased this 'hidden' fuel before and finally found it. Like Tom says, you could try for 700km or you could just consider that 3 gallons an emergency reserve that's good for 100kms.

My California 1982 FJ40 was 22.4 gallons. My 1984 BJ42 Canadian is the same like the oil filter size, and the fuel tank 22.4 gallons. I've run mine dry once and learned out to prime it. It's just like a Freight Locomotive (I used to work for UPRR running freight trains). There is a button to push several times to prime the fuel line. You have to open the nipple, prime the fuel until the diesel fuel comes out, then close it). I hold a glass jar to collect the diesel fuel. I hope the image helps. But the top left is where to take off the dust protector and turn a little to open, then push the little cylinder to pump (prime) the fuel.
