I called about it yesterday, and I plan to go look/drive it tonight just for kicks. It's a lifted '78 FJ40, 85% redone to restore it per the salesman. It has a Chevy 350ci in it with a 3 speed automatic tranny. Looks like it's on 33's from the freeway, but I'll check. Salesman said that they have $12,500 on it right now, but they're looking for offers b/c they need to sell it. I'll see how low I can get him tonight. ;) I'm in no shape to buy it, but I thought I'd pass along a lead on a NICE FJ if anyone is interested. I'll try to snap some cell phone pics tonight and post them and give a report on how it runs/drives. Pics will probably suk in quality, but it will give you an idea on what it looks like.

Saw it tonight

OK, here’s what I found out about it tonight when I went to take a look:

-3 Speed Automatic Tranny, geared for offroad
-Chevy 305ci with Edlebrock everything
-side exhaust in front of rear wheels
-very nice 33x9.50 BFG All-Terrains
-NICE paint. It’s been repainted and restored in gunmetal gray color with glitter flake. Real sharp.
-Interior is about the best I’ve seen on an FJ40. Totally restored and no rips/cuts in the seats I could tell. Some custom elements, like a black carpet headliner. Interior is Rhino-lined or some kind of bed liner. Real nice.
-Rancho suspension. I think it has a body lift to get the 33’s on it. Springs are still under the axles, so the spring-over-axle conversion has not happened.
-Rear rack with Jerry can
-Ball hitch
-Front winch, but I’m not familiar with it. Looks to be like the OEM stuff, but in new condition.
-Diamond plate fenders on the rear.

Lights all work, it runs OK. Needs a tuneup. Exhaust sounds MEAN. I didn’t drive it, but the guy said that the tranny is geared really low. It runs fine until about 35MPH, then it shakes and has a lot of gear noise. Windows are all in good shape from what I could tell. Hard top was really nice. Some rust on the hood latches. Engine looked pretty clean. The salesman said it does drip oil, but what FJ doesn’t??!!!!

Previous owner traded it in. It was used offroad in California and built as an offroad rig.

Pass it on to whomever you think might be interested. I will pass the salesman’s info onto you via PM.

Forgot the PRICE!!! Starting price is $13,900, but they are very anxious to sell it. Somebody with some good negotiation skills could get a good deal on a very nice FJ.

Yes, the A/C works. Everything worked. The radio was aftermarket, so the previous owner took it out. The new owner will need to replace it.

why thew hell would someone trade in a 40 like that ...be they only gave him/her $2500.0 for it
