Subscribed! You have truly inspired me. I picked up a 96 LX450 last week (a woman's grocery getter for 13 of the rig's 18 years) and you have give me so many good ideas. I am nowhere near as mechanically skilled as you, but I will do what I can and learn as I go. This is my first cruiser.

Keep the action coming!

Thanks! This is my first cruiser as well. I have learned all those little FZJ80 specific things from this forum. Such a great resource. Just be sure to take your time and read up on all the tech you can before digging in, and have fun!

Looks good!

Gracias :smokin:

noticed the truck running a little hotter than usual and absolutely no roar from the fan at start up. So I drained the fan clutch last night and added this. Seems to be working fine now.

Ill actually be in Moab first weekend in Oct and yes i did the deflare here in my garage. It isnt perfect but im happy with it for now. I think if i ever have to redo the paint im gonna weld the holes shut.

well i went and did it. 5 years ago i built a mini truck with a good friend of mine. He got married, has a baby on the way, bought a house and a WRX, so i got a call. He offered me the truck at a price that I couldnt pass up annnnd so this ended up in my garage. It got wheeled but it never really got finished. Im gonna throw a front bumper and cage on it, but that means that for now the FZJ80 is gonna be on the back burner and just pulling DD duties.

hey guys looking for a little help with an overheating issue. I noticed on my scangauge recently that my temps have been spiking. I used to be running below 200* all the time even up steep climbs on the highway (live in Summit County, CO). Now I am getting temps 205-210* just driving around town. I also just very recently noticed that when I turn the truck off after its been that hot that the coolant is boiling into the overflow. I found that if I let the truck idle when I stop it cools its self down below 200* and it will not boil and i see no issues. As the truck cools back down all the coolant is sucked back into the system. I have been driving it like this for a month now (4 mile communte a day) and I haven't lost a drop of coolant, and I have no mixing with the oil. The forum got me crazed that my HG went but I went and got a combustion leak test kit and after the truck running for 15-20min I showed absolutely no sign of combustion gas in the rad. I also did the fan clutch shortly after the issue showed up with slight improvement.

I guess im looking for my next step, thermostat?, water pump?, common air leaks in this system? what may be causing this issue.
