Gary how do you know it is running hot? What is the normal temp and what does your's run? Where are you taking the temp from?

PS You could slow down :)

Gary emailed me on this....good question tho, don't believe the 100-series had a stock tranny temp gauge....

I'm determinig temperature based on heat coming up through the console area. It's nearing cooking temperatures. I'd be interested in any way to install a gauge and get real numbers.

Slowing down helps, but doesn't solve the problem.

Does is radiate through the gear-shift posts?

Have you checked your ATF to see if it is burnt? Take it to a transmission expert and have it checked. I would do a ATF fluid exchange using synthetic fluid.

The cats are next to the trans and run alot hotter than trans ,close to the floor , alot more likley heat source,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The 100 has an over temp light. Mine center consol is hot as well (makes the cup holders useless in the summer) but I think most of the heat comes from the cats. ATF is fine.

More heat at the console.

Thanks for the tips. The cats could well be the problem. Has anyone tried shielding them or ?
