Hello,
I wonder if anyone has an idea about what is going on? When the weather drops to around 5 degrees celsius I sometimes get a hot start issue. If I have been driving for around 30 minutes and the engine is thoroughly warmed up and then stop the engine it will not restart until the temperature gauge hits the bottom line. Once the temperature gauge hits the bottom line it fires up with a bit of a splutter ( I assume the splutter is due to several starting attempts before hand). When turning the key I can hear the relays click but from the driver side I can't work out which ones are clicking. The starter does not make any attempt to turn over, it feels like the immobiliser has activated. The battery is new and under normal operation the starter sounds strong. I've tested the relay and that is fine.
This is a 1998 100 series 4.7 v8 with lpg system.

When was the last time you serviced/replaced your fuel pump?

Hi, tbh I've never touched it. Does the temperature change the way the pump works? Thanks for the suggestion I'll have a look.

Well the hot start is not solely attributed to the fuel pump, it’s a possibility but not entirely. Byproduct of the fuel being hot (boiling levels hot) which the root cause is the exhaust pipe being inches away from the gas tank.
You have two alternatives to fix the issue, first is to insulate your gas tank from the high temperature of the exhaust pipes which 95% of the time fixes the issue. Now if you continue to experience the issue still after insulating the gas tank, next is to replace the fuel pump.

Thank you. I can hear the fuel pump when I turn the ignition on..I hadn't considered the temperature of the fuel could be an issue.
