The 60 has been sitting for a little while, and like all the times it does, when i went to start it I had to jump it.
This time when i tried, the jumper cables got REAL hot, way more than i have ever experienced.
Is this just a fluke, or because, even trying to jump it, i could not get it to catch.

Jumper cables do that when one battery is dead.

Leave a battery tender on the 60 at all times when it is not being driven. It will save the battery, and be less of a headache. A battery tender at Walmart is $18.00.

hope they are good sized cables, not those cheapy ones.

Yup, internal short between plates, the amp draw gets high, and the jumpers get hot.

cables

Attach cables and let run for 10 minutes without trying to start. This lets your alternator put some charge in the dead battery.

Jumper cable size has a lot to do with current flow also. If the cables are of smaller guage let bumpers touch for ground and use both cables on positive.
