Just drove about 15 miles in my '82 60, and noticed around 70-80 kph there was a slight shimmy... when I stopped there was smoke coming from the left front hub. (smelled like rubber)
The rim and lugs were almost too hot to touch, same goes for the dust cover on the back. Knuckle and brake hose were cool though...
Any Ideas before I start taking it apart would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks , Mat

Trashed wheel bearings. Very likely spun on the spindle too. :(

Mark...

caliper siezed. bottom two pistons (one each side)
any advice on freeing them up would be great.
Thanks Mat

Screw That! I just bought a set (2) calipers at Parts Source for $75 a piece!!!
They are made by "Fenco" SOR wants over $365 EACH!!!!
Full set of pads for 28 bucks.
They had it all in-stock. Guess I can make it to work tomorrow after all

do i get a cookie for guessing right? :)

You may want to make sure the grease in the bearings didn't get baked also as a precaution.
no but you do get:flipoff2: .oreo or choc.chip which is it

Gonna do the bearings next week. I think the same side may be shot. 230,000 miles so they've lived a good life anyway.....
Thanks for the help. I'll leave the cookies and milk on the porch, help yourself.
