While looking under the hood, i noticed a good antifreeze leak coming out on either side of the flush/fill valve (red arrows). I tightened the seal on either side of it and it appears the leak stopped. I am wondering what could cause the system to be under enough pressure to leak out of the hoses s it hasnt been run in at least 12 hours, and then was just to move it around in the driveway.

Also, i noticed a hose that has most likely been disconnected for wuite a while (Yellow Arrows). Could any damage have come from that? if so, how could i fix it?

Sometimes if the seal on the hoses is not good, when it cools down, and things contract, you'll get a small drip/leak. When warm can go away. Hoses may be cracked, too. Maybe new hose time? btw, I hate those plastic flush/fill things - they always end up leaking 'cuz they crack from over-tightening when people try to stop the leak! You can replace with a brass one, if you have to have it.

The missing hose is a breather tube the goes from the valve cover to Air Cleaner, as you've indicated. Yes, it can do damage, 'cuz you're gettin' unfiltered crap into the engine via the valve cover and carb! Get a hose!

btw, you don't have to use the Toyota hoses - you can go to NAPA and use the green-stripe stuff... I think ACE hardware may carry it, too.

Green-stripe is a Gates product. Here's the part #'s just in case you wanna do it, to get the correct sizes and some molded hoses.

alright. I am going to oreilly and getting that hose today, also maybe a new flush valve/hoses. do i need to do anything to get the antfreeze out of the hoses to replace? i would prefer not to have a huge antifreeze leak all over my driveway if possible.

I dunno -- If it were me, I'd flush the system and refill while I was at it, if the coolant is more than a year or so old. Coolant is a lot cheaper than a radiator or heater core.

You're gonna need two - three gallons of coolant and three Gallons of D.I. Water for a complete fill. Use the old school green coolant.

ahhhhh.... just got a brand new radiator and brand new coolant put in it... any way to do it without a full coolant flush?

Oh, yeah - Just put a new hose on and top off and burp the system of air. Helps to fill on an incline, if you can, with the radiator fill tube higher than the rear of the truck.

ok. so if i disconnect the hose am i gonna have radiator fluid soming out off it? The leak stopped but i am wondering if it makes sense to go ahead and replace the hose and valve.

another thing, i found a hose connecting to a cylinder thing directly in front of my oil filter that seems to either be cracked or there is just old water. what does this hose carry?

Sure, anytime you discon a coolant hose you'll get something out of it, but since those hoses are high in the system, it won't be too much, but it'll be enough to keep the pets away from it until you hose it off.

Not sure if you're referring to the Oil cooler or possibly the fuel pump ? Are you talking about the one with small hoses or large?

Pix do help. Support MUD, buy a silver star, and you'll go to Heaven.

haha. im pretty sure it was just some stale engine water. but ill take a pic.

That hose coming from the air cleaner is a PITA!!!

Where can you get the brass tee? :hhmm:

I did a search and I can't find it now... But I'll look more later. To me, it just looked like a brass garden hose repair Tee... Same as the $OR coolant filter kit.
