Just wanted to know if anyone had pics or diagrams of the hood support rod. I dont think mine is complete, the end of it goes where when the hood is open?

Robert

later models prop rod went into a hole on the drivers side apron earlier models went int a bracket over the radiator

Where exactly is the driver side apron at? Does anyone have a pic? I also thought mine might go on the bracket on the radiator. But it is a 1969 and you might be right on the driver side.

Well here's the "latemodel" version:

The driver side apron is the top part of the driver side fender. It has the emblem Toyota Land Cruiser attached to it...

Your 1969 would not have used the driver side fender apron for the hood support rod as the hood support rod was in the middle of the hood and not on the driver side. The hood support rod changed locations when the hood went from two piece to one piece in 1972.

Very good picture thanks....however you are right! My 1969 has the rod in the middle of the hood and must attach somewhere in the middle or on the bracket of the radiator.

Any pics out there? The rod I have does not look complete. I would put up a picture myself but the rig is in Oregon and I am in Alaska right now.

And it clips into this bracket.

Note the custom anti-rattle tape. :hillbilly:

I had the wife go out and look at the hood support and that it! this whole time I thought something was missing from the setup to hold up the hood. Thanks guys....

"Custom anti-rattle tape" always unwinds for me (when clipping and un-clipping the strut).

So I moved up to "custom heat shrink sleeving". :D

i just flip my hood up till it contacts the window frame . the prop doesn't hold it open enough for me .

Though it looks a bit small to have one, I wonder if there was supposed to be a rubber grommet in that bib prop rod hole? One could always make the hole bigger for a larger grommet to help prevent the paint from scratching. If you care about your paint that is. ;)
