Local Stealership wants $600 to do the 90k mile service. Said would take 4hrs...so if you figure $40/hr LR that leaves you with what $440 worth of consumables.....what am I missing besides the usual clue? :slap:

Kinda tough for us to evaluate your question. Provide us with a list of what they're doing for $600 when we don't know, ya know? Heh.

It aint 40 bucks an hour anywhere.

Well, maybe at Junk's place

I was very surprised when I got my '94 last year -- bought it from the original owner, a urologist, who would routinely take it to the 'yota dealer and let them do whatever they wanted -- hell, he even paid for a few simonize "clean the inside of your engine" treatments --

-- what was more disconcerting is that this guy was routinely paying $600-$900 for junk service -- tires balanced, fluids topped -- junk --

-- no cruiser-specific stuff -- no driveshaft lubes, no bearing repacks -- nothing --

-- that dealer was certainly happy though -- but they could have gotten more out of him if they talked-up the "cruiser specific" more expensive stuff --

Just picked mine up today from having the 90k service done at the dealership. Total bill was $360.

Here's what I think the dealers would do on 90K service (IIRC, more or less of a 30K one):

Replace Air Filter
Set Timing (where applicable)
Change Transmission Fluid
(A/T w/o type T-IV fluid)
Replace Limited Slip Differential Oil
(where applicable, add $24.95)
Replace Air Conditioning Filter
(where applicable, add $84.95)
Scope and Set Idle (where applicable)
Replace Fuel Filter (carb models only)
Clean Throttle Body/Idle Speed Control Valve
Replace Non-Platinum Spark Plugs
Drain and Refill Coolant
Change Transmission Fluid
(type T-IV fluid add $27.95)
Change Differential Fluid (2WD models)
Inspect fuel lines, connections, tank band, & vapor vent system hoses

Cost is $289.00 here in CA.
