I guess this isn't too tech related for 80s but it is interesting and definitely 80 related. Some guy from Seattle just posted on the LCML that someone should be able to buy a 91 FJ80 for 8k. I thought that was an insane price. So I looked at the Seattle Times.

Anybody want to go in business? Buy them in Texas and sell them in WA state. INSANE! And all this time I thought Idaho had high prices.
Also for the more technical side of things did I provide a reasonable respone comparing 60s, 62s, and 80s?
I've owned both a 60 and I currently own an FJ80. The 60 is much easier to maintain. The fulltime 4wd system of the 80 causes the front axles to need a lot more service (axle seals). The primary advantage to an 80 is the ride. The coils are much better than a 60/62 leaves. Also you get some more ammenities such as Cruise, PS, PW,PL, sunroof etc... If you were going to wheel the rig I'd definitely go 80 because the suspension can't be beat and the lifts are 1/3 as much as replacing leafs on a 60 or 62. The 62 is sort of a happy medium as it adds the power features but retains some of the ruggedness. However, in my opinion FJ62s are highly overrated in price. They tend to go for as much as the 91/92 FJ80s with just a little better performance. Also on the 80 vs. 62 the fulltime 4wd is nice if you have bad weather. How far is she going to drive it? The 60s were designed and geared for 55mph speed limits. No overdrive. Both the 60 and 62 have overdrive. Depending upon your daughters tastes I'd say it could be a toss up between the 60 and FJ80. I'd avoid the 62 just due to the higher price over the 60 without that much advantage. My 91 FJ80 now has 220+K on it and hasn't had any major service other than plugs, plug wires, alternator, battery, PS pump, and front axle rebuilds. I also have a 94 FZJ80 with 198k on it that drives just like new and has been basically untouched. Depending upon how much you can spend a 93/94 FZJ80 might be out of reach and that would be my definite choice. Fulltime 4wd, power stuff, and engine with enough power, and ABS with 4Wheel Disc Brakes. The higher mileage ones can be had for about 6k now.
