I recently put my buddies engine in my FJ40 and he had a Holley carb on it. For right now I am going to stick with this setup and see how it runs. I may eventually go to a stock carb, but spending my LC money on my 45 and 55's.

On my old stock F engine, there was a vent tube that went from the valve cover into the air cleaner. I have searched around a bit prior to posting this up, but I don't know what key words to use other than Holley.

Is there a part that I can tap into the air cleaner to be able to connect this vent tube?

If not then what are some of you other Holley people doing in this situation?

Thanks,

Brian

I ran a Holley for years. To vent the valve cover you have a couple of options. I'm assuming this is a 1F engine. If so, the hose nipple on the valve cover comes out in a terrible spot for the Holley carb setup. Some people get those little valve cover breathers and stick them right on the cover, seperate from the air cleaner settup.

What I ended up doing was getting a 2F valve cover, much better vavle cover by the way, no leaking, and the breather nipple on it comes off on the back end of the cover, behind the carb. From there I ran just some heater hose, the right size from the breather to the air filter. I got a 9 inch filter housing as I recall from NAPA, chrome and everything. It fit a standard Holley carb, and just fit next to the brake master cylinder. It had a breather nipple off the bottom side of the cleaner. It ran an open type air filter.

Personally, the Holley did very good on the open road, sucked gas though, I never saw an improvement in MPG. And I tuned the hell out of it, tried everything. The open air cleaner gets dirty fast. And off road it sucks, sucks, sucks. Always flooded out because of the way a Holley vents the float bowl. Good for racing, not off road. I went back to 2F carb on my 1F with the better 2F aircleaner, since I had a 2F valve cover. Not as sporty around town, but far better off road, good solid 15 MPG everywhere I go. Holley, got 17 one time, rest of the time I got 10-12 MPG.

Good luck
