Holiday club party Jan 7th in lieu of monthly meeting

I have reserved the basement venue of Rhodeside Grille in Clarendon for Wed Jan 7th. I have used their facility many times before for parties, and they do a nice job providing food and private bartenders. It's plenty good sized for our needs, and has a good media screen. The general manager is calling me tomorrow and I can get details on cost per head for a food spread, but they have always been very reasonable in the past. We will do a cash bar, and make a motion for the club to cover food for members and guests. Austin is available to put together a media presentation recapping the year in photos and videos from Swap Meet, Coal Mine, Fall Crawl/Raffle truck and the Beach Weekend. Another possible idea is inviting reps from the raffle truck charities, and we could present checks to them there. It could be a nice lead in to Austin's entertainment. Any other ideas and suggestions are welcome. It will replace our January meeting 7-10 pm. Wives/girlfriends encouraged and friends of the club are welcome.

If that's the case, then we'll make it ceremonial. No big deal. These are decent sums of money and I think we deserve to promote and share our victory with the club.

We should also make sure Jeff Old gets an invite plenty in advance. He will probably come unless he is stuck on the side of the road in Arkansas driving a white 40 to Texas. It might be the impetus he needs to have us ship him the forty, then he can do his personal thank you in person to the club in Jan.

Damn... I don't think I will be here for the party. Is the Jan 7th date set? Wondering if it might be good to do later in month since many people travel during that time.

It's open for discussion which is the purpose of this posting. Jan 7th should be well past the holidays and not a travel conflict for most people I would think. At the last meeting the opinion was to do it on a regular meeting night. That way the club isn't requesting two appearances in one month and meetings are slow in dead of Winter. Many people have viewed this posting, so if it's a bad date for more people, we need to hear from them, so we can consider changing the date.
