I am seriously considering changing my solid front disc's & 4 spots of my 89' LJ71 SWB (vwith the 2LT )to a set of HJ60 vented rotors & 4 spot calipers , as will be building a tough 13BT to go in & want the extra braking . My diff's are the turbo 8'' and the cuiser is the 9"' , has many people done this ? do i have to change the Hubs too ?

Also thinking about putting the sold disc that i take off the front and put them on the back ( back has drums ) , possibly putting the cailper there too , have heard of a "Lïne lock" as a handbrake or how would i make the rear caliper work ? Hydraulic handbrake or something , or not use those caliper , but use a handbrake caipler off another vehicle ? ( questions galore )

You are thinking in swap the front axle searching more braking power or more resistance . ?

The 8" HI front is pretty enought to handle the 13B-T weight without problems ..

The later model LJ/KZJ 71/78 have vented discs front (may even be the same as the HJ60) & discs rear, if you can get parts off one of those it might be easy.

If you have the HJ60 parts already I'd just strip it down & see what fits.

I'm not sure if line locks are legal for a cert, check it out if you go that way.

Cheers
Clint

keeping the axles/diffs , just upgrading the brakes. Definatelly swapping in Vented rotors & calipers , have to find some series 60 calipers & back plates & trashy rotors ( as am gettn RDA slotted & dimpled rotors & Hi friction pads ) and see how they will all mount on .

Once i have the front brakes done , will see how the rotors will fit to the back & work out what caliper is best , may have to upgrade the mastercylinder ( have to speak to a brake shop )

that weird , cos i hear the 8" diffs are tough as bulldozers , we close to -lol , think the hilux Beam axles are the real strong ones as have seen a heap of Drag cars around running hilux rear ends with 700hp + ( with spools & aftermaket crown & pinion ) , well that was last time i was into watching Drag racing ( Nitro funny cars & top fuelers are wicked to watch )
