I found a very detailed thread (but it was already closed) on the location of motor mounts for a V-8 conversion for the 40 series, but I was wondering if my HJ-47 is going to have the same motor mount location? Also, I'm putting in a small block V-8 350 GM and don't know which mounts would work best for that engine. Any suggestions?

Hi. You may try to PM mud user "HJ47". I bought his 1984 HJ47 in late August. He had put in a 5.7l vortec (model L31 I think) a number of years ago. He may recall the setup. The Troopy is stored for winter about 160 miles away...otherwise I'd offer to take some pics. Damn Minnesota salt!

I would mock up your drivetrain and put the mounts in. That way you get ideal location for your setup.

As far as what style, I started with the Advance Adapters mount but switched them out for a DOM style mount. With the AA mount I had enough movement that the fan would contact the shroud. The DOM mount secures the motor in every direction. Be sure to consider cooling, power steering, et al.
