What an absolute noob
When I turn on my 1980 HJ45 (it’s a H not a 2H) the oil pressure on the gauge immediately climbs to the maximum. What could cause this? Oil filter? Bad oil? What’s going on?

When the oil is cold it will show very high oil pressure on startup - this is a good thing - as the engine oil warms it becomes more fluid and the oil pressure will drop. You may notice that when the engine is warm, at idle there is very low oil pressure, but as the engine speeds up the oil pressure increases. When I turn on my 1980 HJ45 (it’s a H not a 2H) the oil pressure on the gauge immediately climbs to the maximum.
