The Pintle hook is the only one I've ever listed on US spec FJ40. Was standard until some time in 1962. Became a option after that.

Thanks, I saw a picture of a hitch when a googled fj40 hithes in the "images" page. It looked factory, I don't know how to upload the picture.

I installed a receiver hitch from a 2007 FJ Cruiser. It wasn’t real easy drilling the 1/2 inch holes in the rear stock bumper and had to grind off a couple of rivets but once bolted up it’s very stout and up and away for off road use.

I figured out how to upload(I’m not techie). Anyone know anything about this hitch?

I think there's someone in the classified section that sells something like that.

These are solid

I have an OEM hitch... you can only put a ball on it though. I removed mine for the CCOT version that accepts a receiver. I can post photos later if you want for reference of what the OEM looked like.

Please post a photo. I have never seen anything but a Pintle hook listed for a Land Cruiser. Those were available new and maybe still are. The one posted above believe was a option on the early 4Runner and possibly the mini truck. Problem with style it hangs low and on a two track trail the ground clearance is less in the middle. The rear frame crossmember is weakest in the center. Have a drop hitch is like a cheater bar. Now that I have a trailer made from a old Toyota pickup I will got with a Pintle/two ball combo. Even the ones I do not wheel hard will see more than a gravel road which is all I would trust a drop hitch. The PO of my 79 had a drop hitch and bent the rear frame member. When I do a frame will see if it can be straightened of if I have to replace it.

It would be nice to know, and appreciate.

I highly recommend the one that 4+ sells. It's plenty beefy enough for the light loads I tow with my 40.

So 2 OEMs, thanks

Neither of those are OEM for a FJ40. The top one maybe another Toyota but not a FJ40. The Pintle has chain for the pin that locks it. Even the Pintle hook Toyota sells today does not have the pin to lock it. I prefer the Pintle that locks over OEM. But the eyebolt used for the bolt instead of regular bolts I used. Hook the safety chains to them.
