Hissing metallic scratching sound - help

developed an intermittent, metallic hissing sound coming from PS front wheel area while under power. Sounds like a cat hissing with metallic tone. Getting worse. Wheel bearing? CV?
 
I'm not familiar with the 100 wear indicators in particular. But in general, pads (and therefore wear indicators when the pads are thin) are in contact with the rotors regardless of whether the brakes are being applied or not. It isn't like a bicycle where the pads have an air gap to the rotors. Drag isn't as important on automobiles, so there is no airgap, the pads are in constant light contact with the rotors.

In other words, yes, wear indicators are a plausible cause of your noise.
