Hello, this is my first post on the forum, I've been a browser researching land cruiser until now.
I have a sport sedan currently if you will, however could use the extra room and versatility of a LC. I've been searching for local vehicles however they are of coarse quite hard to come by with a service details, etc. here in the south.

I did locate an 06 in the color scheme of my choice, but the vehicle does have more mileage than I'd ideally go for at 200k.
The vehicle does not have extensive service records shown on the carfax and the dealer does not have any additional info. I'm not sure whether the timing belt has been replaced.

For those of you who have had these vehicles, what is the standard recommendation when purchasing an older pre owned vehicle. The good news is that it what a one owner not showing any accidents and has not been up north.

You can sign up at Lexus or Toyota site, and enter the VIN. You can see the service history, if the vehicle has ever been serviced at the dealer.

For timing belt, there should be a sticker on top of the engine showing date and miles when it was replaced. I would assume it never been replaced if you can not find sticker and record. You can use this to negotiate the price - not cheap to have this done.

This is a good starting point Slee Off-Road 100 Series Newbie Guide

Thank you much, I'll read the thread you listed. Good to know about the vin on the Toyota site.
From what I can tell, this particular year has quite the electronics incorporated

I only buy higher mile cars, most things, like ball joints and tie rods, wear out and get replaced in the 120-150k range.
I would not hesitate to buy that truck as long as it runs and drives well and then once you get it home go through it stem to stern replacing all fluids and filters and the timing belt.

The vehicle I am now looking at has 125k. The service records indicate good maintenance history and timing belt changed at about 90k. The vehicle appears extremely clean cosmetically, the only thing somewhat questionable is that it was listed on the fax as having two accidents. The first one does not provide any detail, only that it was checked for operational function following. The second was listed as minor, which I'm assuming was some dents in the bumper.

What sort of impact on the value would you consider for this? Otherwise it was a one owner and looks well maintained.

Oh yea, this would be my DD and I'd be trading a fairly new Q40 sedan on it.... Got the itch for a truck.

Here is a quick photo

The accident stated it was in a rear end collision with minor damage to front right and left sides

Low mileage and good maintenance are what I look for. Minor accidents, so what....(provided it was correctly repaired).

When looking at these vehicles I would almost entirely ignore the mileage. Unless it's "very low" (under 90k, maybe), it's not worth much consideration in my mind. These run forever. The wear items that are worn on a 250k truck are probably worn on a 125k truck as well.

Drive a few and get a feel for a nice one and a rough one. I'd buy a well kept 400k truck over an ignored and dirty 100k truck any day.

90k service is expensive. Other potential money sucking problems can be AHC, ABS pump, Secondary Air Intake.

Thanks this is reassuring. I've been trying to absorb as much as possible from this forum, it's been extremely helpful. I'm also considering another vehicle and will hopefully be going to drive it soon. How does the engine look to you guys at a glance?

Just drive it, the engine can look pretty becuase they clean it for the sale. I have been driving my 99LC for a long time. Just get you one and change all the fluids and go from there. If they have service records that would be great as you will have a baseline of what needs to be done and what has already been done. I have recently changed my water pump, timing belt, alternator, new battery , Oil , power steering fluid, I will have this truck forever. So find you a good truck don't worry about the mileage, just look for the maintenance records.
