So over the past week or so my radio (aftermarket) has randomly turned off/restarted while driving a few times. I assumed it was a wiring issue with the radio. It was already installed when I bought it, so I don't know how much of a back job it was

Well tonight while driving it did it again but also my dash lit up like a Christmas tree (VSC, etc etc), just like when you first crank it!! So now I'm thinking maybe loose battery cable??

Well my son was riding with me and asked about it, and he said oh like when you turned on your high beams?? I kinda of looked at him and sure enough if if I flicked my high beams it would do it.

Then again when I made sure the windows were up (i.e. high draw) it did it again!

So then I knew something was up. At that point I thought it look at my ScanGauge and it was all over the place. From 13.9 to 15.4. just not stabilizing at anything, and this is while I driving down the road.

When we get home I checked the voltage with meter at idle, and it's exactly 14.3 and the SG is also showing steady.

So I guess it is only when under load... thinking alternator? Suggestions welcome. I'm getting a new daily in a week or so but need this figured out.

Thanks!

Has anyone experienced issues with the 150 amp Sequoia alternator? I found one thread where a guy mentioned the bus bar at the main fuse getting hot.

Trying to decide between the 130 amp late model LC versus 150 amp Sequoia. Both necessitate a plug change.

The bus bar is mounted on porcelain is because it can get hot.

So that is OK? Or is hot bad in this instance?

For all I know the stock setup may get hot...
