I'm gonna have some fun repainting the cast aluminum lid of my Weber Q200.

It's getting hot. So much that the original "paint" (some sort of high temp powder coating?) is flaking off.

Any experience with a good long-lasting high temp paint suitable for aluminum, preferably not in boring black?

If you are referring to the black sheets of carbon that build up on the underside of a grill lid, that then flake off... That is carbon, not paint, and a completely normal byproduct of grilling.

Say what? ^^

Just use header/engine enamel from the automotive store. Fair amount of colors and works pretty well.

U sure? From memory, the engine ones I've seen say something like 500F. A good grill is quite a bit higher.

umm... thanks I guess :)

There are several that are rated higher; the header stuff is rated to like 1200. You're not going to get much hotter than 500 anyway, gas grills don't get as hot as you think.(I have one of the Q200's too; great grill.)

Hi, Just paint the outside, season the inside with veg. Oil. My grill burns most paints off within 2 years. Mike
