High Ratio Diff

Hi,

I am fixing up a '79 rest of world spec '40. It is fitted with an 2f, H55 and a full floating rear axle.

Can anyone suggest a Toyota sourced diff that will offer better highway performance that is a straight swop?

I would imagine any 3rd member is a direct swap up to the FZJ80(possibly FJ80), What I dont remember is when Toyota went to 3.XX ratio from the 4.11's

When you say "Better highway performance", do you mean that 5th gear is too tall, and doesn't have enough power? Or is 5th gear too short, and you find yourself reaching for 6th gear on long flat stretches?

what ratio you have now?

Tires will have an effect too---have you got the size installed that you will be sticking with?
