I'm in the market now for a new ignition system and was wondering what you fellow "hardcore" cruiser heads think about high dollar ignitions such as MSD's probillet hei distributor. Is it worth the extra dough especially for off roading apps? Probably a dumb question but i wouldn't know any better. ;)

Here's a brief look on the specs on my mild SBC 350:
-4 bolt main
-Keith Black Flat top pistons
-Performer PRM intake
-Performer RPM aluminum heads swap the rockers roller tips 1.52 ratio
-Comp cam 270 (advertised intake duration)
-holley 670cfm off road carb
-Good Ole' stock HEI distributor which i want to replace completely because 4500 RPM and up for these stock things are total BS.

I guess what I am asking is a fail safe ignition setup or maybe even brand for off roading, Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

my kid races and when we have to figure that stuff out we go to summit racing for info .we tell them what we have and what we want to do and they fix us up .good luck

to me the msd was well worth the money....my 350 cranks up instantly now and has much better throttle response

We went the Jacobs route in the 1982 fj-40 and its been very good Mike
