Cleaned the Throttle Body out last weekend and ever since the idle is around 1100 rpm in park. Even when hot it stays up that high. If I shift into drive or other gears its right at 650 rpm. I will say this. I don't think it had ever been cleaned. The back side of the butterfly and inside of the TB had about a 1/4" of yuck. The truck runs smoother and seem to have a little bit more omph. :D Any ideas about the high idle? I had thought it was computer related but its had enough time to reset.

Wonder if you need to pull the EFI fuse or battery cable to reset the computer??

Drive it for a while, I had to wait almost 7 days for anything to change in mine once I cleaned it out and replaced the intake hoses, etc.

The EFI is so easy to pull it is worth a shot.

Is the flapper stuck? Does it stay high in neutral?

When you cleaned the TB, did you remove it from the truck? If so, check that you haven't moved the cable positions from their original setup. Refer to the TSM and make sure the cables are adjusted properly and that they're not sticking.

All I did was remove the intake flex hoses and spray the butterfly and inside the TB. I didnt remove or adjust any cables. I made sure that everything worked properly before putting it back together. By the way Cruiserman, it does idle fast in neutral too. May I try puling the fuse and see what happens.

Thanks guys,

Brian

Sounds to me like the cable or butterfly valve is sticking.

High in N is something sticking.

Perhaps a piece of that 1/4" of gunk is wedged in there?

That much goo dictates a full tear down to clean it properly.

FWIW, I'm not sure removing the air intake hose and spraying the buttlefly, would qualify as a "throttle body cleaning" by this boards standards.

This is a demanding bunch. :flipoff2:.
