Hi everyone! Been a Toyota 4x4 owner for 10+ years (86, 88 PUs, 87, 98 4Runners), bought our first 100-series/LC/LX470 about a month ago.

99 LX: Bone stock, doubt if it was ever off road, one owner. 133K miles. Checked the Lexus site for dealer repair/maintenance perfromed. The vehicle was very clean with the exterior and interior being in near excellent condition. Engine / transmission / transfer case all seem to be in good running condition. There appears be a problem with the AHC (it goes up OK - but I cannot get it to come down without waiting for a while - haven't done too much investigating on that yet since it is not a priority at this time) especially since I plan on dumping it for an OME 2.5 inch lift/ 1 inch body lift / 4.88 gears / ARB lockers / 35 inch tires... (when I sell my 4Runner per the Mrs!) :) I do all my own repairs/upgrades/mods, been doing it since I was 16 - basically have little trust in most repair shops and yes, I have numerous stories from needing to get something done and I didn't have the time - only to find out it took me twice as long since I also had to fix what the shop messed up...

Anyway, back to the LX... Haven't driven it much since we purchased it because I want to check/replace a few things before I go wheelin'. This site has GREAT information! I have already purchased a second master key and replaced the what might have been a 'busted ignition' in the near future with a new one I got online from the Dallas Toyota dealer. I would rather change the ignition part any day of the week than to have to program another one of those master keys - I could have done 2 ignitions in the time it took me to program that one key (I am not looking forward to having to do that again!). :crybaby: I also need to get those gears/ARB lockers on before I go wheelin' as I do not want to break that 2-pinion front diff on the trail - so it may be about 6 months (or so) before I get it out on the trails. I also removed the running boards to make it a little easier to crawl under the vehicle. The only picture I have is attached - I had just replaced the ignition part and removed the running boards - I will post some more later...

Oh, did I say that we love to go 4-wheeling? We (always include my wife) live in the high desert of California and are members of CA4WDC and the 4WDC out of Bishop, CA. We usually wheel between Red Rock Canyon (south) and Bodie Ghost Town Area (north) - Lake Isabella (west) to Death Valley (east). Plan on expanding our areas in the near future to include just about anywhere - retirement is calling!

Anyway, hope to see/meet some of you on the trail in the future. I have seen members with the IH8MUD stickers on their vehicles over the years in Last Chance Canyon and Goler Wash - now I need to get a sticker, as well!

Welcome to the continuing addiction 100 section of Mud ESLX.

Welcome ESLX. I just got my 2001 LX a few weeks ago and am looking forward to doing some of the mods you mentioned. I'll be looking for your build thread so I can follow the progress.

ES, looks identical to my new to me 2000 LX. Love the Golden Pearl (which is an odd color designation for a pearl white).
