So it seems the HFS is about $400. less expensive than the Dakar. The CCOT crowd really talk up the HFS. I have not seen any post on this board lately where any body has put them on..What's up w/ them?

Also It looks like the HFS "kit" is not as complete as the Dakar Kits..Shackles and pins seem to be a "option"; then there's so damn many lengths?

Just a wondering.

Hfs

I bought the HFS "kit" in the early spring and had it installed. I purchased the FJ62 kit and the shackle set with 1 1/2" fronts and 2 1/2" rears, all for about $1100 with shipping. The only thing I didn't get and would if I did all over again is the greasable pins and bolts. So far I love the whole system. Currently running 34 x 10.5's swamper LTB's. I dont have experience with the Dakar kit. But the shop that I had install was very impressed with the quality of the kit. Hope this helps - Jim

I'm currently deciding between a BDS or a HFS kit. The HFS kit looks good, but the BDS kit has a really nice warrenty along with it. Do A search on here and read past comments on the two kits. After reading all the past threads, I'm probobly gonna go with a BDS. But the HFS kit looks like a good deal. I just don't wanna get burned 2 years down the road if they start to sag.

Lets here all the stories you guys got. Maybe it will help me decide on what kit to get.

It seems that I recall..

BDS maybe makes the HFS springs? Seems like I remember seeing that somewhere...I read the DBS vs OME thread...

I've seen where rigs have ended up with the front end too low with the HFS and reordered shackles to even up? Why wouldn't that be compesated for with any given "kit" how the hell you suppose to know what to order to stay on a even keel?

If one puts heavy springs on the back and medium on the front, fwouldn't it seem that the dealer would know which addition shackles etc were need to level up every thing??

A idle mind is a terriable thing ( so is a cronically bad speller)

I had posted the same question a few months back. The response I got was that HFS is a relatively new spring out there. A lot of people have had good luck with them in the fj40's. Most people on this forum suggested sticking with a company that has a great reputation and has been around for a while which is OME. The Dakar's are quite a bit more but people have been using them for a while and I haven't really seen any negative comments towards them. You can go nuts trying to decide which springs to get. I opted for the Alcans. Good company , great reputation and they will make the springs to your specifications (the selling point for me). Good Luck!

Why would you want to level out the ride if you had heavy springs in the rear with shackles up front? I thought the idea of the heavy springs was to be able to run extended range fuel tank, full safari rack, heavy rear bumper/spare tire carrier and enough gear in the cargo are to do long range expeditions. Thats the best way to level out the rig :flipoff2:

One thing I do find interesting though... When there was the option of Ironman Suspension floating around the ARB/OME people knocked the crap out of them for being built in Indonesia or wherever. OME was pumped as being built in Australia with Australian steel which was the real advantage.
Now they come out with Dakkar and they are not made in Australia and I assume they are not made with Australian steel but somehow that is OK with ARB now.
I still havent decided on what suspension for my 60 and probably wont until I finish a few other mods. Belton? Alcan? Deaver? Dakkar? HFS? Lots of choices, lots of $$

Are any of the lift options manufactured in the good ole US of A? Hey, if it comes down to a choice between springs made in a Mooslim country and springs made in Texas, the patriotic choice is quite clear! :D
The only useful info I have to add to this thread is that I know a man who's quite happy with Spector 2" lift springs coupled with OME shocks on his FJ60.

Canada is now a Mooslim country

The factory that makes OME Dakkar springs is the same one that Toyota/Mazda uses I was informed. OME did some metalurgy testing to make sure it was up to snuff and then they went ahead and had them made there.

I have an OME 2.5" lift, shocks, HD shackles with greaseable pins, new bushings and it rides awesome on 33x12.5" tires. I paid about $1900 from 4WheelParts (which included CA tax).

I plan on keeping my FJ60 for a long time.. and heard the OME kit rides the best. Well after having 125K miles on the stock suspension the new OME Dakkar kit with the lift rides WAY better. I am still SUA and it corners great and isn't too bouncy for a leaf spring suspension. I am happy with my decision.

If you plan to keep this truck for a long time get the OME kit... if you are unsure then check out the others.

I run the HFS springs, if anything mine sat up higher in the front, wasn't that big a difference though. The set I got was not bad at all, and the guys at CCOT are great to deal with. I'm running OME greaseable pins w/ HFS greaseable lift shackles, works great.

If the Dakar stuff is as good as the OME gear from OZ, then that is what I would get. The OME system that I am running is excellent.

DO GET greasable shackle pins. DO ADD an FJ60 anti-sway bar in the rear.

well I need to say, good suspension with all greasable pins and poly buschings are better always .. ! :D
