Most OME dealers are handling the 'new' Dakars. Contact them of quotes. There will be some variation in price.

Is that shipped or not? Dakars probably around $1450+/- for medium/heavy kit + $150+/- for shipping. You might be able to shave a little off the kit price by buying cheaper shackles, u bolts, and bushings. I just put on the Dakars, and I couldn't be happier with 'em.

I assume that 1150 is a before shipping price.

My Mom is in Texas now and could bring it back to me (I have to ask first)

But I hear so much ranting and raving about the dakar. I could get the dakar but It would be another couple of months.

I don't have plans to get a long range fuel tank and bumpers and such. Should I get the 'comfort' or 'med/heavy'

I think I paid around 1,300 bucks shipped to my door. I also purchased their two inch shackels and 1 1/12's here's a few pics of the setup on the vehicle. Good luck.

Gee...that is some nice flex from a SUA. Cool.

I got the dakar heavy from Kurt at cruiseroutfitters.com, and paid 1450 for everything, including a steering stabilizer.
The springs are great, and the ride is very smooth.

I do not have experience with the HFS kit.

I helped FJKai install a heavy Dakar kit on his 60 and I was really impressed. The labor wasn't bad to do and the ride was amazing compared to stock. It is supple with good articulation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Dakar lift to anyone. He got his from David at Urban Land Cruisers for about $1400 or so with shipping.

To be honest, both are prolly good. It just depends upon your loyalty etc. You can't go wrong with either. I have seen both in action, and I couldn't tell the difference. That said, the HFS has not had the longevity of testing as the OME/Dakar lift. OME/Dakar is tried and true.

Make sure to compare apples to apples...

Most of the Dakar kits on the market include greasable pins, shackles & fluted poly bushings in addition to a steering damper. ;)

Cool Cruisers offers greasable pins etc. as well.

But your right Kurt, the OME packages usually offer the best equipment with no hidden costs. OME dealers, such as yourself and Dearborn usually give customers a no-bull@&@&@&@& package. It's all the best stuff in one.

One would really have to peice together a good pachage with the HFS stuff from CCOT.

I have had the HFS kit for close to a year and love it. I dont have much experience with lifts, but the shop that installed it does very nice custom work and they were impressed with the quality. just my .02 Jim

Which kit do you have?

make sure to get extended shackles with the HFS springs... went with the OME greaseable at first they were a tad small went to the 1 1/2in and 2in lift shackles front/rear way better.. the rear on mine sits a bit low though, probably because of the amount of stuff I have in the back end of my cruiser though :D

I also have the HFS and very happy with the ride, but similar to "pie eater" you need to get extended shackles.

The great thing about the HFS is the shackle angle. It is about 45 degrees with stock length shackels which gives a cushy ride over all bumps. But because of the shackle angle, you lose lift that was given by the shackle sitting straight up and down. So I pieced together my kit using only HFS springs, greaseable anti-inversion shackles, Doestch shocks, and greaseable spring pins. I run 5 3/8 pin-tp-pin shackle length in the rear and closer to stock in the front. This has really leveled out the stance.

I also have ARB front, roof rack, and JK Customs rear bumper.

HTH,
Mark

Oh yeah Dakar were not available at the time I ordered mine, but would have probably just gotten them at the time. I have not seen any pics of shackle angle on the Dakars.

OME Dakkar "medium" lift kit here. It is complete with steering stabilizer, greasable pins, and poly bushings. Ride is nice and when loaded up it rides much better than empty. It wasn't cheap.... but I plan on keeping this truck for a long time.

It was my first time installing a lift kit and it was rather easy and the instructions were straight forward. Did it in my driveway over 1 weekend.

Just my opinion-Dakar or Alcan.
Not seen good stuff from HFS on 62's.

That's all fine and dandy, but what do you make you opinion from? Is it the label or is it a performance issue? That is the question.....
