Hi all. I have a 2008 lc200 sahara with no gear selection showing up on dashboard display. It has "check VSC system" also 4lo flashing and traction control is flashing. Car drives as normal. Cleared the codes but it keeps returning. Any ideas?

First, a more descriptive title besides “help” will get you more attention.

Second, what was the code before you cleared it?

Check VSC can be dozens of things. Have access to a diagnostic tool or mechanic to read the codes stored in the computer?

Correct.
VSC gets tripped with a variety of “unrelated” systems codes.

If selector position mechanical linkage is still changing to d n & p. Maybe a shifter position sensor in the shifter or at the trans plate might be toast? My probably incorrect hunch…

Wow, I never would have guessed this resolution. The error message and lights on the 200 are so often misleading.

Probably because it needs about a million inputs to do what it does, and basically no circuit on these vehicles is as simple as just running the backup lights.
