I know someone will inevitably mention that this topic has been discussed a million times and to do a search.
Well, nothing has answered my questions so...
I have a 2013 Tundra with 2" leveling spacers in front, 20" Fuel wheels and 33x12.5 tires. It looked and worked great for towing my camper around, but I no longer have the camper and need to make it more "offroad" worthy without going crazy with lifts and such.
My goal is to have as big a tire as I can comfortably fit without too much modification. It already has an aftermarket front bumper that doesn't hang down in front of the tire, so I needn't worry about that. I would love to fit 35x11.5 R17s but 34s will work just fine. It's really hard to find "less expensive" A/T or R/T tires in that size.
I think I'm going to go with 285/75 R17s (34x11.5R17) MY BIGGEST QUESTION is about backspacing and offset. I don't know what I'm doing...lol.
I want the tires to tuck in the wheel wells when off-roading but I don't want them sunk too far in on the road. A little outside the well is fine with me.

Current setup.

These are the Wheels I want. Will they work with zero offset and 4.75 backspacing with 285/75R17s?

There are so many different types of “off-roading.” What will you be doing? What trails? Or what’s the terrain like?
Most folks “off-roading” full-size rigs really only need the stock 32” tires. 33’s you have will take you to so many places.
I have 33’s on my Jeep and it’s taken me all over Moab. My guess is your current set up will take you to all the places you’re willing to take your truck.

Now, if you want offroad LOOKS, that’s a whole another topic. 🙂

I understand.
I hunt a lot and the places I go can get a bit hairy, mud, rocks, steep hills and such.
I'll mostly be on the road so an A/T or R/T is best.
However, yes, I'm also wanting it to look more militaryish..I guess.. something like that ...
Here are a couple examples that are close:

I closed my eyes and hit the pay now button....

I'm still baffled by the whole thing, but I couldn't just sit here thinking myself crazy, so here's what I ordered.

I went with the Fifteen52 Wheels 17X8.5 Zero offset and I'm going with the Milestar Patagonia XT in 285/75 R17s (34x11.5R17).
I hope they work.

FWIW - zero offset will have a significant outward movement from the stock wheels. Stock Tundra wheels are +60 offset, meaning the centerline of the wheel is 60mm inboard from the wheel mounting surface. A zero offset wheel will be the same offset as adding 2.3" wheel spacers. Hard to compare without knowing what you have now. The wider stance will increase the radius of the swing of the front tires when you turn - that means you'll need to do more clearance work than the same size tire with a +30 or +60 offset wheel. However, they're 34" tires, so they might still fit without a body mount chop. You'd have to search to find someone who's used that size to really know.

This is kinda what to expect with 0 offset:

+20 offset:

285/75/17 tires are pretty narrow at the tread. I like them. It's what I used on my 2015 4Runner. Here are 3 tire sets I had for my 4Runner all mounted and aired up. From left to right: 285/70/17 Toyo AT2 8" wide wheel - 285/75/18 Cooper AT3 8" wheel - 275/60/20 Cooper HT and IIRC 7.5" wheel. You can see visually that the 285/75/17 is a good bit narrower tread than either of the others, and a bit taller. I thought it was a good option for all around use - quiet on the highway, durable, and did really well on most offroad conditions (not so much in deep mud).

Go with +25 offset with 8" wide wheels to keep it tucked. Run 275 85 17 (a large 33 some call 34) or 35 11.5 17(34.5) and you shouldn't rub on standard hunting roads.

This is my setup with icon wheels and 285 75 17. I run 35 11.5 17 falken RT now

I like it. Those wheels look like there ready to rumble.

I went with a Victory winch bumper and a Warn 9.5XP. I may remove or fill in the "V' logo at some point.
