for you paint guys out there, i am re-painting my cruiser myself. i am at the primer stage and things were going ok. but now i am "dry spraying" and i can't seem to fix it. i have 2 guns one is a gravity feed and one is a suction feed both are doing it. the primer starts to spray ok at first but after a couple of passes it starts comming out like sand paper. please help if you can. i am getting very frustrated at sanding everything over and over again. thanks

I have very limited experience w/painting, that being said...I am very pleased w/the work I have been able to accomplish with my HVLP setup.

I'm not sure what equipment you have, but I imagine the following still applies:

Make sure guns are clean (I have had good results w/lacquer thinner).
Stir primer throughly.
Follow ratio instructions for primer (hardener/reducer).
make sure to use filters for everything that goes into your gun.

You might want to post this in the paint section...

What primer are you using ? Probably just need to add a little more reducer to it. But to be sure we really need to know what your mixing up.

thanks for the replys. i am using xtream high build 2k direct to metal. it is 4 parts primer 1 part activador and acetone as the thinner. i have been using 2 parts thinner and have adjusted that part up and down, but no luck. both of my guns shoot the acetone out just fine when i am cleaning them. so my guess it has something to do with the thickness of the primer or my air pressure but i have adjusted them both sever times but no luck. thanks again for the help

Acetone...are you in California ? What tip are you using ? Should be 1.8mm to 2.0mm. Ratio of 4-1-2 seems right...whats the weather like where you are spraying ?

i am in washington state the weather is sunny and between 75 and 90. i am using a 1.6mm tip

Pick up a 2.0mm tip and mix it 4-1-2. Don't they allow reducer in Wash State ? How long are you waiting between coats (ie too long and she'll set up in the gun). First things first, get the bigger tip.
