Hi,

I've been trying to figure out how to bypass the "must be in park" lockout to do advanced NAV controls / DVD while moving. (This is for the passenger's benefit not mine, I don't get sucked into screen watching when driving. Biggest priority is being able to have them enter nav info on the go.)

The only detailed write up I've found is this one, but I don't have ANY of wire colors they reference:

DVD Override and Pictures! - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion

Is there a module or more detailed instructions our there that might help?

Thanks!

I don't think you can do that even when parked (until model year 2007).

I can play a DVD on both the front and rear screens while in park if that is what you mean?

I have an 06 and did not use a switch like that person, I just grounded the wire and now have both screens working for DVD, but I am not sure if the Nav options are still available. If I remember the vehicle speed sensor is involved making that bit impossible to access even with the grounding trick. I don't use the Nav so I never really pay attention to that, only wanted the DVD/video for trips with the kids.

Interesting. Based on the info here I didn't think the front screen could play movies at all. I've never actually tried mine.

What wire did you ground exactly? I couldn't find the light green wire where it was described in that thread. Do you remember the harness location? Mine has some sort of module to add an iPod input (VAISTECH I think) so it may be throwing me off. I definitely couldn't find the violet wire with the red stripe, but if that is just the speed sensor then I won't fret over it.

You have to have the rear entertainment option for the ability to play on the front screen as well. The DVD player is in the center console. Then you toggle through the modes with the MODE button I believe. You can do (In park) Rear video only + headphone audio only; Rear video only + Full stereo audio; Both F & R videos + full stereo audio. But as soon as you put it into drive the front monitor's video cuts out.

If you follow the instructions already linked this will allow you to have the front monitor play video all the time, no cut out when in motion. It does not allow you to use the Nav functions, however.

I had no issue finding that light green wire, or the violet, it was on the back of the radio just like the photos in that other thread. If you have a VAISTECH then check the harness that it is plugged into. I imagine that the VAISTECH module has a harness that plugs into the radio, and that harness plugs into the factory harness, so maybe that is why your colors are not matching up? Just a guess, so I could be wrong, but it might be worth a look!

Huh. My remote doesn't work (presumably a dead battery)..maybe that's why nothing happens. :p
