So, I have a new used LX 470, and I am having to add a license plate light to the Slee bumper. The LED light I bought needs a 12V power source. I know nothing about auto electrical. Where are some acceptable points to tap into existing wiring? Is there anything closer to connect to than the towing harness? I'm assuming that solid green wire is running lights? Thanks!

Here's some general info if it helps:

The lower tailgate only has lights in it. At least for '98 and '04 LCs the wiring diagrams show the wire colors as:

Green: Tail lights
Green w/white stripe: Stop lights
Green w/black stripe: Left turn signal
Green w/yellow stripe: Right turn signal
Red w/black stripe: Back up lights
White w/black stripe: Chassis ground

I can't determine what a "Blue w/black stripe" wire is used for in the lower tailgate, but since the "Green w/yellow stripe" wire appears to be missing in your pics, maybe they made a substitution.

When cutting/splicing just be careful not to touch any bare wire to the chassis or the ground wire. Just extend them one at a time and things will be fine. Or you could pull your STOP and TAIL fuses before you start for piece of mind.

In the upper tailgate, however, there's lots of fancy stuff going on like defroster, door locking, rear wiper, 3rd brake light, backup camera, license plate lights, etc.
Lifesaver post here. Thanks.
