Well my wife slid off the road today in this ice storm. She hit the curb hard and it looks like some suspension damage. Can anyone chime in as to what appears to have been damaged?

The front drivers side wheel looks to be "pushed in" a couple of inches.

Notice in the second pic the red stick is pointing to a suspension piece that looks to be pushed in towards the engine. I don't plan to file an insurance claim of its $1500 or less in damage. And I certainly do not want to lose this old Cruiser that I've owned 13+ years!

I appreciate your input guys!

Sorry to see that, but it may not be to bad. Only way to know is to take to two or three good front end shop, that do frame work.

I hope you guys are right that it isn't too bad. I will have it towed to my local Toyota specialist for repair.

If anyone knows someone with an extra 1999 Rim I could use one. Also a drivers side factory running board.

Thanks guys!

Chris

Not exactly clear but I think your red stick is pointed at the upper control arm, where it mounts to the frame. Possible things got tweaked if she hit it hard from side impact, which explains some of the wheel alignment issue pictured. That wheel is toast though, sorry. Good thing we get matching alloy spares! I've seen a few sets on CL lately so check yours. I think most of us have a set of running boards collecting dust, lol.

Update a total of $2600 later And I have the old rig back. Needed $1000 in parts- the shop ended up buying a full left suspension as one piece from a junkyard. That included upper and lower control arms, steering knuckle, the works. Also replaced front shocks and left axle. The frame was actually bent in 2 directions (bent up and towards middle of car) and this was the trickier part to fix. But all is well now.

If anyone has an extra OEM running board please PM me. That's all that's left for a completed repair!
