Ok, how to word this correctly. I currently have a 1987 HJ60 with a 1994
1HZ in it. She isnt turbo'd yet, but she will be. I bought some custom
axles that have 5.29's in them and Im running 37" MTR's. I need to re
gear her so that she's not running to hot on the highway. Im torn between
going either to 4.10's or 4.56's. Here are some examples or engine RPM at
speed with both sets of gears:

70 mph, 4.10's = 2263 in OD and 2680 in 4th

70 mph, 4.56's = 2517 in OD and 2980 in 4th.

I have heard it said that I should error on the HIGH side as it is
better to spin the engine a little high as opposed to lugging it
on the highway....

I like the idea of the better fuel mileage with the lower RPM, besides the
engines max torque is at 2200 rpm. Im stuck!!!!

Any help I could get with this is appreciated.

Tom

torque maxes at 2200 the horsepower maxes at 4000...
i was turning 35s fat with 4.10 in my HZJ75 and never wanted more gearing, the way i look atit 4.11 are easy to find if the need arrises where as 4.56 are much harder to locate.
i vote for the 4.11.
i am sure there will be lots of votes for the 4.56.

side note, on the PZJ project if i go elec lockers i will be changing out from 4.56 to 4.11...
cheers
