hello guys as i have seen so much threads regarding the uplifting of hzj,.Lj and many other cruisers etc etc so i was wondering that how can i uplift my LJ-78.here are a few questions..i dont have much knowledge about uplifting but just asking...i came across body lift and suspension lift somewhere in the threads...whats the difference between both of them and what can be done to my landy??
1)what sort of uplift kit will be needed??
2)cheaper way to do it
3)whats the difference between body lift and suspension lift?
4)can i increase(put in land cruiser shocks & springs)just asking..as there height will be an inch or 2 higher than its original.:whoops:

+ i need a slight lift of 3-4 inches(problem while climbing the tummy gets itches as well the rear end)......... as i have changed its rear spring previously i think they are from 80 series land-cruiser
i am asking way to silly questions:censor::censor:but still i am not a guru like you ppl.
hope to get some good response from the great members...love u guys:cheers:

a lift is to give clearence for larger tires.

a body lift will only move the sheet metal up and the frame and drive line stay the same. this is the cheapest lift there is. usually under $200 including longer rubber mounts and longer bolts. 1.5" is what i recommend as a max. remember your steering and braking are controlled by the sheet metal so if this lift is improperly installed and the sheet metal shifts you could loose control of both in a heart beat.

on a LJ78 you have coil suspension so the spring lift is cheap as well. roughly $1000 will find you springs and shocks and maybe even castor correction bushings. this is not as easy as the body lift but it is still quite easy to do. i would recommend the Dobinson lift since i have had great results from it.

what i would recommend is trying a set of 34" tall skinny tires since it is the tire size that will get your belly off the sand and rock.

hope this helps

previously i placed 2 inch of rubber busing(with the new 80 series springs) in front as well as the rear springs but still its not upto my choice .....what i get from your reply is that i should go for a complete uplift kit.
will the 34(skinny tires) fit in the same suspension which currently i m using??
and thaks alot crushers for that amazing info ....thanks alot:cheers:

take a pic and post it up...
:confused:currently i am out of town but still will post a pic ...... as i get home back will post some clear images of suspension n everything
as you can see there is a slight up lift at the back.the springs are 9 rings.shocks are all genuine.

34" skinnies will fit on there.
nice color, love the black and silver
thanks alot crushers:bounce2:.......... you will guide me in my upcoming slight changes.....thanks for liking the color by the way the color pattern is metallic green and silver but it looks like black :)
at last one more question
after installing 34 skinnies will it rub the inside of the fenders??

as in rub the inside fender towards the engine?
or
as in rub the inside fender towards the back of the truck?

because of the height of the tire you MIGHT get some rub on the inner fender under full articulation.
doubtful any at the rear of the fender as long as your offset stays same as factory. if you go more offset (further out) then you will get some clearence issues with the rear, hence the preference for tall skinny on factory rims.
