04 with no sound from front speakers, all 4 out. Rears work fine.
History, happened 2x post self service car wash, after a couple of days worked fine again. I assumed they somehow got wet & dried out. Simple solution, wash by hand. I noticed after hard rain one day that the driver side cloth speaker grill was wet, but speakers still worked. Now all of a sudden nothing. My question, if one front goes out do both not work or was the car wash coincidental & I have a bad amp. Solutions plz.

Trunk - Does the windshield drain down through the doors?

I ask b/c I just put soundproofing material in both front doors. I didn't notice anything that would suggest that a leaky windshield would be the cause of a speaker grill cloth getting wet, but maybe I missed something.

AFIK, it seems the only way the cloth would get wet is via a gap in the rubber at the top of the door panel and the glass.

Let us know...thanks.

I think the circuit connecting the head unit to the amp uses a common ground wire for all 4 speakers.
Maybe check to make sure that the connections at the amp are all good.
Also check to see if you are getting any water around the amp.

I think the speakers in the doors can withstand a little water.
It certainly won't help the sound quality, but unless you have water pooling in the doors, a little moisture should not cause them to stop working completely.

I would check all of the connections at the amp before taking the doors apart to check the connections at the speakers.

Hope this helps

Let me ask this another way. If a wire is disconnected from one front speaker will it shut off all front speakers?

Yes if the wire is touching ground but if still factory wiring amp and speaker it is very unlikely. Sounds like an unusual amount of water to me. If it were me I would pull a speaker out and meter it. I believe fronts will be between 4 and 8 ohms. I would push on the cone of the speaker to see if sounds crunchy.
Another thought is make sure the water is draining out the bottom of the door. Just my $.04 hope it helps
