Thought I was TDC but left cam not aligned. Is #1 Cylinder first in line on left bank?

Yes! Left sitting in drive seat. DS of engine. Same side oil cap is on.

Note the "T" on engine is not timing mark.

Crank mark (circled in red) is on oil pump. It's just a bump.

BTW: The tensioner pulley assembly retaining bolt threads need coating with FIPG 103 (oil). It's the one torqued with 10mm hex head socket.

Set all three (cams & crank) marks and you're golden.

New belt has marks. This happens to be a VVT engine. Marks the same for all 4.7L 2UZ.

The Toyota FSM illustration (c) is wrong here. The marks on a new belt will not line up after a 2 revolutions (720 degree rotation). We only care that pulleys do line up on marks on the engine dead on.

Thanks for the response. All back together and running on all cylinders!! Had the belt off last night and believe the cam rolled. Pulled the valve cover and noticed the cams don’t like to rest at the timing mark. They fall left or right very easy.
