Putting my rear brakes back together, cannot recall how the pad retainer clips go in.

When I took them apart, the clips looked like this. Note the orientation of the one with the little notched piece indicated by the arrow.

And this end didn’t seem right at disassembly. See how the clip closer to the camera looks backwards?

So I put them back together symmetrically, which makes sense to me, but I’d love to see a pic of it done right.

This is the as-found clip orientation on the driver side. The bracket is oriented in the pictures same as on the vehicle. Note the clip with the notch is facing down (in the lower position on the bracket) on both the inside and the outside pad on this side. On the passenger side, that clip is facing up (in the upper position on the bracket).

My reinstalled and refreshed passenger side rear caliper. Note the notched clips facing up on the passenger side (on both the inner and outer pads)

Sorry TM, still not sure what you’ve got there, but I appreciate you trying. Looks like that picture uses 4 of the same shape clip. I actually have 2 different shaped clips on my bracket, which is NAPA rebuilt. I think I figured it out:

This is the passenger side

This is the lower end of the PS bracket. “F” is forward. The tab circled in blue must face forward. You can see that it kind of matches the angle of the bracket casting. It won’t work the other way around.

This is the upper end of the PS bracket. Here the tab circled in blue must face backward. You can see that it’s curved to match the curve in the casting. This is also the clip with the slotted tab, circled in yellow. No idea what that is for, but the lower clip does not have a slotted tab.

If I had 4 of the upper design clips, I could orient them all like on the upper part of the bracket, but given what I’ve got, this looks like the only fit.

Sanity check: anyone else seen this? On both the upper and lower end, the pad is riding entirely on the clips, and I think that’s the objective.
