So i had the dealer do the steering column recall. Recevied the truck back and .........

tilt column isnt working
horn not working
VGRS light on.

oh boy... quality attention to detail. I give them a call and they pick it up and after a week of slow moving they tell me the fuse on the horn was blown and they had to order a new tilt motor. VGRS light was because there was an engine code and they could not reset the tilt sensor.. hmmmmmm isnt it standard to disconnect the battery when working on a truck. if that happened the codes would have cleared..... Maybe they shorted something?

They did fix on all the above issues..... after i get it back i see that the shift column lights and the climate control back lights are not working. could this have been from the original fix but i didn't drive it long enough to recall. I also noticed the rheostat that controls the switch dimmer is not doing anything. No idea when this occurred.

Any thoughts from the masters on this????? Cant believe the one time I bring this truck to the dealer its a totally botched fix......

Steering shaft recall. I think it was that coupler can come loose on hard impact. I think they have to remove some of the upper column to access. I didnt really look to closely at what the repair encompassed.

VGRS always trips when the battery is disconnected. Drive 25mph for a few seconds and it'll go out. (If you disconnect the battery yourself, make sure your wheels are straight.)

That said...THEY should have done that.

the VGRS stayed on after driving for awhile. they had to reset it. Im now worried about the lower dash lights. They fixed all the other stuff finally.

All 100's? Only telescoping? Time frame valid? You list AZ in your sig? When in az and whereabout, CBT is in our back yard.

Lower dash lights?
If dimmer for dash is not working. It's almost always due to it not be plugged in. IIRC in the 06LX it will set off other dash warnings light and some light not work. Just pull straight out with both hands on black plastic above steering column. The 4"x 12" black plastic trim the dimmer switch is in. Push Plug in until it clips.

Im not sure what year hundreds.. check the toyota recall site against your year/ vin. it will pull up any recall work needed. Yes like the climate control below the screen and all the lights where the shifter is. Ill check on the dimmer plug. thanks

anyone with ideas? Does anyone know if these lights share a fuse with anything else?

Do your reverse lights come on when...in reverse?

Anecdotal, but maybe useful: I shorted out my reverse wires running a reverse camera. It popped the fuse, which killed the guages (no movement) and the gauge lighting. I noticed the gauges long before I figured out I'd hacked the wiring.

That fuse is in the PS kick panel.

Hmmm.. im not sure.. I will check that as well as the fuse later. Thanks for the info. The gauges do work. just not the lights below the screen and main dash gauge panel.

Can you post a picture of lights your asking about.

I think of main dash as what know as combination meter (water, oil speed-o etc.) Then we have console and center console.

Its all the climate control buttons below the nav. and where the shifter is. At night its all black. Nothing is illuminated.
I can get a pick later.
